BIJA successfully completed its training session, titled “Digital Justice System, Rights, and Cyber Safety” (Education, Awareness, and Information -Know Your Rights. Understand the Process. Empower Yourself), aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of digital justice mechanisms, legal rights, and cyber safety in Bangladesh.
The session commenced with opening remarks by Jeba Mobashwira, Executive Director, who welcomed the participants and facilitated an interactive discussion to assess their existing knowledge of digital justice, cyber protection, and legal rights through engaging True/False questions. She also provided an overview of the training and introduced the key digital justice services to be covered, including filing an online General Diary (GD), submitting consumer complaints to the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), accessing e-Judicial Services, the e-Family Court system, and digital legal aid services.
The technical sessions were conducted by Emam Hossain Ridoy, Program Lead, and Shawlim Shefa, Research Lead. The facilitators provided practical guidance on the detailed process of filing an online GD, submitting consumer complaints to the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), accessing the e-Family Court system, digital legal aid services, e-Judicial Services, and reporting cybercrime.
The session also covered essential cyber safety practices, and understanding available cybercrime reporting mechanisms. In addition, participants were introduced to key legal provisions supporting digital justice under various laws of Bangladesh, highlighting the growing recognition of electronic evidence, online legal processes, and digital public services.
To reinforce learning, participants worked in groups to discuss their understanding of the topics and presented their findings, encouraging peer learning and the practical application of the concepts. The training concluded with a reflection session, during which participants shared their key takeaways and made personal commitments to apply the knowledge gained while promoting digital rights and safe online practices within their communities.
Overall, the session successfully increased participants’ awareness of digital justice services, strengthened their understanding of legal rights and cyber safety, and encouraged responsible and informed engagement with Bangladesh’s evolving digital justice system.
